Free Clinic - May 19th, 2024

Our first free clinic event was the culmination of months of preparation aimed at addressing the access disparity to primary care in underserved areas. The goal of this initiative was to provide pediatric care to families in need and create opportunities for aspiring physicians to work in medically underserved areas. This day served as our initial trial, where we effectively trained the team in all clinic tasks and improved our community outreach efforts to reach a broader audience.

Partnering with UCLA Phi Chi, a student-run pre-medical organization, allowed us to realize our mission. We trained student volunteers in all clinic tasks and insurance intricacies during the free clinic day event. These students gained valuable experience in patient interactions, charting, shadowing, and understanding insurance processes. Additionally, collaborating with USC medical students enabled them to take an active role in addressing patient questions and performing physical examinations as needed.

The event also provided students with direct mentorship from Dr. De Silva, guiding them on their journey to becoming physicians. Through this hands-on experience and mentorship, we aim to inspire and prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals to serve their communities effectively.

SPECIAL THANKS TO THE STUDENT VOLUNTEERS FOR COMING OUT AND HELPING WITH OUR MISSION:
